Project description
The Arlekin Puppet Theatre is a historic building established in 1948 in the centre of Łódź. The project involved the reconstruction, extension, and vertical extension of the theatre, equipping it with three modern theatre halls and a 24-metre-high stage tower. Only the external walls remained from the former theatre. The new theatre is based on an independent reinforced concrete structure with a steel truss roof. The building has seven storeys, including one underground level. The varying floor levels required precise and carefully thought-out detailed design documentation.
To speed up construction, locally post-tensioned precast floor slabs were used in the theatre. KMT also prepared the demolition sequencing design together with the design of the temporary supports for the external walls - extremely important for the safe execution of construction works on the existing historic building. Finishing works are currently underway.
